History of Light of Africa Diamond

A rare rough diamond was unearthed from the Cullinan mine in South Africa by Petra Diamonds. That gemstone was cut from a 299.3-carat rough stone and acquired by Stargems Group last year. Stargems Group chose to reveal this one-of-a-kind 103.49-carat polished diamond at the prestigious Dubai Diamond Conference, held in the iconic Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah. This Dubai-based Group, has a legacy of over 40 years in the diamond industry and holds prominence in manufacturing, wholesaling, retailing, and tendering of diamonds.

The unique gemstone is a D-Flawless, Type II-A, emerald cut diamond and inspires awe at sight, catching and reflecting light for mesmerising effect.

Type II A diamonds are one of the world’s most rare and highest valued diamonds, representing only 1-2% of all mined diamonds in the world due to their purity and rarity.

The Dubai Diamond Conference, bringing together the world’s most notable industry leaders, provided the perfect opportunity to showcase the exquisite stone. The international conference was held under the theme “The Future of Diamonds”, addressed market trends, insights, and the resilience of the diamond in challenging economic conditions. Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, and CEO, DMCC, attended and opened the event, which sold out to an audience of 800 attendees.

Stargems Group Chairman, Shailesh Javeri commented: “Acquiring the rough stone from Petra Diamonds last year was a significant achievement for us and it is an honour to unveil the polished diamond here at the Dubai Diamond Conference.
