September 30, 2019: The Kazakh government announced an update to the list of countries that can now avail visa-free entry into Kazakhstan.
Earlier on 1 January 2017, the Kazakh government had allowed citizens of 45 countries visa-free entry to Kazakhstan for up to 30 calendar days.
On 30 September, 2019 the government added 12 more countries to that list – namely Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Liechtenstein, Vatican and Colombia.
“The resolution provides for the right to visa-free entry/exit for citizens of these countries if the period of their stay in Kazakhstan does not exceed 30 calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border of Kazakhstan,” a spokesperson of the Kazakh government said.
The visa free rules are aimed at increasing the number of foreign investors, businessmen and tourists to Kazakhstan. Tourism is fast emerging as a major contribute to Kazakhstan’s GDP and is expected to grow at a steady pace in the coming years.
Approximately 8.5 million people visited Kazakhstan last year, mainly for business. The visa free entry for citizens of certain countries is expected to further promote the tourism industry and attract more visitors.
