KEDIA FINALISTS AWARDS CEREMONY – HOLIDAY INN BURDUBAI 2/3/2017

After a wonderful Churchill Show in December that saw hundreds of Kenyans gather at Sheraton’s Dubai Ball-room in their grandest of style, Global Links FZE brings yet another great event for the Kenyans in the UAE:- KEDIA Finalists’ Awards ceremony.

KEDIA (Kenyan Diaspora Awards – Dubai Chapter) will be held at the Holiday Inn, Embassy District on the 2nd of March 2017 from 5 p.m to 2 a.m. The much anticipated event which will feature KEDIA’s 2016 Finalists has elicited a lot of excitement as many Kenyans spent many days on internet asking what the outcome of the KEDIA 2016 Awards were. This event will therefore conclude Mr and Miss KEDIA 2016, and usher in the new set of contestants.

Top Finalists in 2016 include Miss Ivey Mido and Mr Stanley Njau, who scored the highest marks at the Preliminary event in 2016. Challenging them to the throne will be Alex Simon, Jeff Maingi, Chevy Ernesto and Peter Nganga from the men’s category, while a strong line-up of ladies including Beatrice Mwaniki, Brenda Mutesi, Susan Njoroge, Michelle, Wamaitha, Beryl, Joyce and Debby Georges who will all batter it out for Miss KEDIA.

The Personality of the Year category promises much excitement. The names nominated including well known personalities led by Peninah Nyokabi of KEWA fame, Hassan Waziri, Dubai’s Visa expert Wycliffe Owino and Kenyan boxer in Dubai Nicholas Mwangi. Other top contenders are Habs Brandy of Kenyans in Dubai team, Steve Githinji and Joyce Katunge.

The new nomination for 2017 Awards closed on 2nd February. The list of nominees includes very diverse personalities from Event organizers like Farrah Harrison of Reggae Loverz Crew, to Apostle Wellington of House of Grace and Restoration Church whose nomination as a Personality of the Year by hundreds of Kenyans shows that the KEDIA platform has moved from secular to include all the other aspects of UAE life, including cultural and religious. Other top Nominees include Steven Gathere, Founder of the Whatsapp group Daily Walk-in Updates which with a membership of over a thousand Kenyans has helped many new comers in Dubai get updates on job opportunities in the UAE. Other nominees include Maina Gichera, Rose Okun, Nancy, Apollo, Irene, and Margaret. Final list of all Finalists and Contestants is available on Kenyans In Diaspora Awards page.

With only 2 weeks left, the excitement is extremely high. This year’s judges are Ian Mbugua, the no-nonsense Artist, Musician, TV Personality and Judge from Tusker Fame Project in Kenya, as well as a host of many other high profile programmes and the current Miss Tourism Kenya 2016 Awards holder Miss Wendy Bella, whose presence hopes to bring in a lot of inspiration and encouragement to the aspiring models in the region. They will be supported by the Dubai Media expert and long-time Journalist and African Marketing and Networking mogul Mr Naved Hasan.

Focus will be on the big line-up of Hosts and entertainers. Top Kenyan Stand-up Comedians and TV personalities Sleepy David, Butita and Felix Omondi will do all the talking, while Mombasa’s Susumila of Kidekide, Hidaya and other top Swahili Hit songs will close the event.

For the first time, major Real Estate players in Kenya have taken a key role in sponsoring the KEDIA Awards event. This is unlike in the past where there was a bigger presence of Banks and Insurance companies. Among those featuring this year will be the Awards Winners Penta Kenya, Heri Homes and Ndatani Enterprises. Others expected to attend include Safaricom Investment group and Diamond Property Merchants whose innovative ideas in real estate has earned them major awards and recognition in Kenya. The presence of these companies, most of whom will stay in Dubai for 3-4 weeks to meet Kenyans provides excellent opportunity for Kenyan community to invest in property while still working and living in Dubai.

The programme will open with buffet dinner and opening remarks by hosts and sponsors from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. to Music providing by Dubai’s top Kenyan spin maestro DJ Babu. Thereafter Nominees and Finalists will take the centre stage. All outfits will be provided by Esther Musee Designs. The Dubai Partner for KEDIA 2017 is the UAE exchange. With branches all over the UAE to cater for the over 45,000 Kenyans in the region, UAE exchange is at the heart of all major money remittances to Kenya and is currently serving almost 50% of all Kenyans in the region. They will be providing various gifts and awards to the judges and contestants during the event. Feiruza Mudessir of Finchitua Designs, a Designer and past Judge of KEDIA Awards will provide Outfits to the winners in Mr and Miss KEDIA categories.
